The Fer-de-Lance is Zorgon Peterson's masterpiece, a peerless fast-combat ship focussing on maneuverability without critically sacrificing offensive firepower. DSE fields its example of this craft rather than our more seasoned Mamba in situations where agility is expected to be more valuable than sheer speed. Encorporating specialized weapon systems engineering, Cassandra delivers firepower comparable to a standard Anaconda while retaining the maneuverability of a Vulture.

Really, I finally bought this ship just because it's one of the iconic ones like the Asp or the Adder. With my Mamba already engineered to overcome its maneuvering shortcomings, I really didn't need another heavy fighter. But this was when there was still big money being made doing Robigo-Sothis passenger runs and so I had the CR to spare, so sure.

I wish I could say it blew my mind or that flying it was a revalatory experience, but the truth is that the Fer-de-Lance is exactly what's on the tin -- a maneuverable heavy combat fighter -- and exactly no more or less. It is not the super-OP godslayer end-game ship that its fans say it is. But it is a very effective combat ship that can handle big slow tough targets like a Corvette and small fast ones like Eagles or Vultures in equal measure.
